The first step for political involvement is awareness. AHIA and NAIFA make available a variety of materials to help you keep abreast of important issues being addressed by our lawmakers.
Here's some of the information we provide:

- Catalogue of key votes made by Congress and more general information on legislation of note.
- Upcoming elections, candidates and ballot initiatives.
Get Involved
AHIA lobbies on your behalf, but your voice is more important than ours: as constituents, you have the power to influence decisions by making your views known. Your letters and phone calls could end up tipping the balance in favor of your interests.
There are many ways to get involved. Here are a few tools and recommended steps to assist you:
- Find your representatives and senators and learn more about them: The Congressional Directory service can help you find a variety of information about congress, including its committees, leadership and demographics.
- Contact your elected officials. NAIFA and AHIA have prepared a variety of letters on issues of importance to our members which can be modified or rewritten to reflect your specific views and then emailed directly to your congresspersons or printed out for mailing. Also provided is some helpful information for writing your own letter.
- Contact national or local media outlets to raise awareness about issues that concern you.
- Finally, consider becoming a part of our Political Involvement Committee.
Report Fraud
If you or your agency has been approached about a product that you feel may be suspicious, report it to your State Insurance Department immediately.
